Ayaneo 3 Gaming Handheld Uses AI-Capable Chip for Versatile Function

Ayaneo already makes some of the best gaming handhelds in the category, but their strategy has always seemed to be pumping out new releases to give gamers more options than ever. As such, despite having multiple handheld consoles already out there, the outfit is now announcing their newest flagship in the form of the Ayaneo 3.

A Windows-based gaming handheld, the device is touted to deliver “extraordinary handheld gaming experience” that will meet every expectation gamers can have about a premium flagship console. Like many products today, it’s also touting AI-powered performance, although we’re not sure exactly where the machine intelligence is supposed to come into play, especially for a device that’s, essentially, a Steam Deck competitor.

The Ayaneo 3 is the outfit’s newest flagship gaming handheld. It has a 7-inch display, flanked by a full set of tactile controls, including four action buttons, a D-pad, a pair of asymmetric thumb sticks, a pair of shoulder buttons, a pair of triggers, and paddle buttons around the back. You get two 7-inch display options, so you can go for an LCD if you want to keep costs reasonable or an OLED for more premium visuals. Obviously, you’ll want to go with the latter if you can afford it, since mobile devices like phones and gaming handhelds really stand out with high-brightness OLED panels.

It also gets two processor options. Those who simply want powerful PC gaming performance can go for an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, which the outfit has used for other handhelds in the past. You can also opt for an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which adds AI processing capabilities to the gaming handheld. Again, we’re not sure what kind of AI processing they intend to add to this thing, but opting for that definitely opens up a whole new avenue of possibilities in terms of use-cases for the device.

The Ayaneo 3 retains the slanted joystick layout the outfit has used in the past, which, they claim, enables comfortable and intuitive gameplay. It also gets a trigger lock feature using a pair of switches in the back, so you can customize the travel distance required to register an input, as well as redesigned paddle buttons in the back that are newly-optimized to be easier to reach than previous implementations. A new pair of front-facing speakers are also in tow, which, the outfit claims, offers a more immersive experience compared to their previous handhelds, although no actual details about the speakers have been shared.

In their introduction post about the device, the outfit also touts the premium design and quality build of the handheld, which we don’t doubt, considering the quality of their previous flagship releases. No word yet on storage capacity, RAM, GPU, and other details. Considering this is their flagship, though, we imagine it’s going to be quite the feature-packed affair, so we’re looking forward to the full reveal sometime in the coming months. There’s probably no way it’s coming anytime during the holidays, though, so it’s not likely to be part of your gifting options this holiday season.
