De’Longhi makes some of the best espresso machines available today, allowing you to enjoy barista-grade coffee concoctions from the comfort of your kitchen. It’s awesome, not to mention a lot more economical than your favorite coffee chain. Problem is, the outfit’s high-end espresso machines also crosses four figures in cost, making it impractical even for some coffee-drinking faithful. The DeLonghi TrueBrew brings the power of those espresso machines in a more affordable drip coffee version.
Billed as a “revolutionary new drip coffee experience,” the countertop appliance offers bean-to-cup convenience, handling everything from grinding your beans and measuring the right doses to brewing it at the right temperatures and dripping the finished beverage straight to your cup. All you have to do is choose the size, flavor strength, and beverage type (hot or cold) – the machine will handle everything else, so you can just sit back and wait.
The De’Longhi TrueBrew is a full-service coffee machine, basically handling everything that has to do with the beverage from start to finish. As such, there’s a built-in compartment where you can keep your beans of choice with a transparent lid (you can easily see when you run out) and a conical burr grinder that will automatically go to work, pulverizing those beans when you ask to get a cup. It also handles dosing, so it will only grind the necessary amount of beans to make whatever size of serving you want to have, ensuring it never uses up too little or too much with every brew.
There’s a transparent water tank on the side, so you can plainly see any time it needs refilling. Basically, all you have to do is press the buttons and make sure your drinking vessel is right under the dispenser, so the dripping coffee doesn’t end up spilling all over the kitchen counter.
The De’Longhi TrueBrew offers six single-serve sizes: 3oz (espresso-style), 8oz, 12oz, 16oz, 20oz, and 24oz. Yes, we wish there was a larger option for filling up a Thermos, but you’ll just have to run the 24oz serving twice (or thrice, depending on how much coffee you need) to get the same thing. There are five options for brew styles, namely light, gold, bold, espresso-style, or over-ice (for iced coffee), so you can actually customize the brew to your exact liking. According to the outfit, they adjust the dose and the brew parameters based on your choices, ensuring flavor is never compromised while getting you the exact kind of drip coffee that you prefer.
It has an auto-clean function that packs the used coffee grounds into disposable pucks that you can easily retrieve afterwards, whether for dumping in the trash or throwing in the compost. Aside from the single-serve machine, they also offer a slightly more expensive model with a 40oz brew size option, complete with a carafe to put all 40 ounces of that caffeinated beverage that you can keep by your work desk to give you fuel when you want to burn the midnight oil.
