UV printers have long been used in commercial and industrial settings for printing images on practically any type of material. From wood and plastic to metals and more, it allows you to print images directly onto the items. The eufyMake E1 brings the UV printer to the home desktop.
Billed as “the world’s first personal 3D-texture UV printer,” the device doesn’t just let you print 2D images directly onto materials, the prints can also have subtle raised textures that give it a 3D-like appearance. Want to make a canvas print that looks like an oil painting? This can do that, complete with raised sections similar to the brushstrokes on actual artworks. How about printing raised alligator skin print on a vinyl tile? Yep, this can do that, too, making it a potentially cool, new addition to put next to your desktop 3D printer, photo printer, engraver, and whatever other crafting and fabrication tools you’ve accumulated over the years.
The eufyMake E1 is a desktop-sized UV printer with a flatbed that can fit objects with printing surfaces up to 13 x 16.5 inches. The flatbed is designed for printing on flat surfaces, by the way, so you can use it to print on tiles, phone cases, wooden boxes, and even directly to the back of your tablet (so long as they meet the weight limit). They also offer an optional rotary attachment that allows it to print on mugs, travel bottles, and similarly-shaped items, allowing you tackle a whole lot of printing projects from the comfort of your home workshop.
One of the big features here is the printer’s ability to create 3D textures, opening up entirely new possibilities on the kinds of designs you can print. According to the outfit, the printer can create raised textures up to 5mm, so you can create wildly varying textures on a single print, making it possible to recreate brushstrokes, emboss sections, and give your prints some crazy realistic textures. Even better, it supports these textures for printing on both flat and curved surfaces, so you can put fancy 3D designs on your mugs.
The eufyMake E1 prints images at a resolution of 1440 DPI, so images come out with incredible detail, all while being able to reproduce over 1,000,000 colors, regardless of whatever materials you’re using. To make things even easier for users, it comes with an auto-positioning system that uses an 8.0MP camera and a pair of lasers to accurately measure height, contours, and the object’s position to ensure everything prints correctly without much fuss. When using the rotary printer attachment, it also features auto-leveling, so a lot of the detailed work is done automatically here.
According to the outfit, the maximum weight the printing area will support is 3.31 pounds, so make sure any object you’re printing on isn’t any heavier than that. it uses seven total cartridges, by the way, with six cartridges for the UV inks (CYWMKG) and a single cartridge for the cleaning system. Other features include two sizes of flatbed (one large, one small), two sizes of adhesive mats, a working noise level of around 60 dB, UL GreenGuard Gold certification, and a built-in self-cleaning system that allows it to minimize the chances of clogging, ensuring far less maintenance requirements.
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the eufyMake E1. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $1,699.
