Logitech Flip Folio Makes the iPad Keyboard Case More Portable Than Ever

Keyboard cases for tablets are nothing new. It’s the easiest way for tablet users to type on their devices the same you would on a laptop. The Logitech Flip Folio, however, sets itself apart by coming with a very compact keyboard that enables an entirely fresh user experience.

Wouldn’t people prefer a bigger keyboard? If they use their tablets the same way they use their laptops, probably. However, that’s not exactly the case. According to Logitech, their research indicates that most iPad owners use their device for entertainment around 80 percent of the time and productivity tasks for 20 percent of the time. More importantly, they only use it for productivity when they’re out and about, so portability is likely a bigger consideration over ergonomics.

The Logitech Flip Folio is an erstwhile standard-looking tablet case that covers your iPad both front and back, allowing you to keep out nicks and scratches it would otherwise incur from being on the go. Unlike other keyboard cases that snap the keyboard magnetically into place, though, this design lets you set up the keyboard anywhere you want, making it a better option when you’re not working on a traditional table. Simply put, that separate keyboard should offer better flexibility when you’re working out of a park bench, a tent, or the back of a moving car.

The keyboard takes on a 60 percent layout with what appears to be slightly smaller keys than usual, so it’s a lot more compact than your typical desktop fare. It has built-in Bluetooth, so you can pair it wirelessly with your iPad. Even better, it can pair with up to three devices at a time, easily switching between each one with the push of a button. The keyboard also has a full row of iOS shortcut keys, making it ideal for use with tablets and phones. When it’s time to pack up and go, the keyboard can magnetically snap to the exterior of the case, allowing you to easily take it along.

The Logitech Flip Folio case, of course, pulls double duty as an iPad stand that you can use to prop up your tablet in either landscape or portrait orientation. It has an adjustable kickstand that lets you dial in the perfect angle, whether for working, watching, or scrolling through your feed, which should also help when you’re setting up in less-than-comfortable working spaces. The wireless keyboard, by the way, runs on four coin batteries, a fresh batch of which can keep it running for up to two years. And yes, they’re easily replaceable, so you can easily plug in new cells when they drain out.

Two sizes of the keyboard case are available: a smaller one that measures 10.1 x 4.3 x 0.3 inches (width x depth x thickness) and a bigger one that measures 11.3 x 4.4 x 0.3 inches. The former, by the way, is designed to perfectly fit the 11-inch iPad Pro and the iPad Air, while the latter is sized for the 13-inch models of those same devices.

The Logitech Flip Folio is available now, priced at $159.99 for the 11-inch model and $179.99 for the 13-inch version.
