Logitech G Astro A50 X Headset Eliminates the Remote From Your Multi-Console Gaming Setup

Some people do their gaming on an Xbox Series console. Some game on a PS5. Others get their gaming fix maxing out graphics settings on a PC. Apparently, there’s another category of gamers who hook up all three to one TV and switch from one to the other based on what titles they want to play next. The Logitech G Astro A50 X headset is aimed squarely at that demographic.

Unlike traditional wireless headsets that pair with an audio source, this device is designed to pair with its included dock, which is meant to be connected to all your gaming devices and your big beautiful TV. This allows the dock to serve as a control center for your gaming setup, allowing you to go from the Xbox to the PS5 to the PC and back at the push of a button.

The Logitech G Astro A50 X is equipped with multiple HDMI and USB-C inputs, allowing you to hook it up with one Xbox Series X, one PS5, and one PC, allowing the headset to receive audio from all three sources wirelessly. An HDMI output connects to the TV, which receives all the video output while the audio gets streamed wirelessly to your headset. It uses the outfit’s PlaySync system, which lets you switch from one source to another with the push of a single button on the headset, allowing you to quickly go from Forza on the Xbox to Spider-Man 2 on PS5 to a retro emulator on your PC without having to fiddle with multiple remotes and apps.

Granted, it sounds overkill to have all three systems running and hooked up to one TV, but if you like having all your games on tap without waiting for long boot times, this sounds like the way to go. The dock, by the way, also serves as a wireless charger for the headset, so you can simply place the headset there to replenish its batteries (audio automatically gets routed to the TV when that happens). It supports video passthrough up to 4K 120Hz, too, so you get full quality visuals without any loss.

The Logitech G Astro A50 X accompanies the visuals with equally good audio, courtesy of 1.57-inch graphene drivers that, the outfit claims, can deliver “breakthrough precision and clarity.” Even better, it streams 24-bit wireless audio from both the PS5 and the Xbox Series consoles, as well as Ultra HD audio on PCs with Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic support. You also get 3D Audio for the PS5 and Dolby Atmos spatial 3D surround sound for the Xbox, so you get the full breadth of sound each console can deliver.

The adjustable boom mic supports the outfit’s 16-bit 48kHz Lightspeed uplink, which allows it to capture “broadcast-quality” sound that’s both rich and clear. Other features include audio balancing (for the perfect mix of game sounds and comms), Bluetooth dual-device mixing (so you can stream music from your phone while playing), and full settings control via the G Hub gaming software.

The Logitech G Astro A50 X is now available for preorder, priced at $379.
