Mado C-Series Shades Raise and Lower Automatically to Optimize Household Energy Use

Like other window shades, you can use the Mado Dynamic C-Series Shades to block out bright lights coming in from your windows. It’s motorized, too, allowing you to raise and lower the shades at the push of a button. Unlike others, though, it can use AI-powered automation to decide when to raise and lower your shades for best results throughout the day.

The shades come with an Eco Mode that, when activated, will calculate the path of the sun, weather conditions, and time of day to automatically adjust the shades to maximize your household energy savings. That means, it will automatically control the shades throughout the day to reduce solar gain (heating up the house from direct sunlight), control light and glare, and retain wanted heat during colder months. All of this happens autonomously, too, so you just install and leave it to run all on its own.

The Mado Dynamic C-Series Shades are equipped with a quiet motor that runs at just 40 decibels, allowing it to raise and lower without creating any ruckus around the house. Like other motorized blinds, it uses a battery to power up the built-in motor. Instead of plugging in to charge, though, this one comes with a solar panel that continually trickles in juice to the battery during the day. That means, you probably never have to charge it at any point, making it very convenient.

The shades can be controlled manually using a button remote, which you can simply press to lower the shades and press again to raise them. Each remote is pre-programmed to control the shade it’s bundled with out of the box, although it can also be programmed to control multiple shades at once by changing the settings on the companion app. With that said, you can also control the shades from the same app, apart from setting different operating modes and programming custom schedules. The smart shades, by the way, are compatible with Matter, so you can easily integrate them into most smart home setups.

The Mado Dynamic C-Series Shades come in four widths: small (24 to 36 inches), medium (36 to 48 inches), large (48 to 60 inches), and extra large (60 to 72 inches), with all sizes being 90 inches in height. To ensure a precise fit, you can use the adjustable support bar to measure the exact width of the window. Once you get that, you simply cut the shade using the included trimming tool to ensure a perfect fit, then clip the shade into the support bar and mount it. The whole thing can be mounted in place using tension from each side of the window frame. Alternatively, you can use the optional screw-in mounting bracket for a more permanent installation.

The shade is offered in two variants: light-filtering or blackout. The light-filtering one is designed to balance insulation with room brightness, while the blackout one completely shuts out all light, much like any traditional blackout curtains. As of now, they only offer two fabric colors, white or carbon, but more will likely come out down the line.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Mado Dynamic C-Series Shades. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $279.
