The RadRunner line is one of the most popular range of utility electric bicycles in the market today with its excellent balance of good performance, cargo hauling capabilities, and relatively affordable pricing. It’s, pretty much, got everything you’d want in a daily rider. The Rad Power Bikes RadRunner 3 Plus is the new premium addition to the range.
While it, pretty much, retains all the basic features of its predecessors, the new flagship ebike boasts improvements on a number of fronts, most notably ride quality, cargo capacity, and uphill performance. Basically, it’s the same old bike but reinforced in a variety of ways, turning out a more capable and even more utilitarian ride.
The Rad Power Bikes RadRunner 3 Plus is powered by a 750-watt custom rear hub motor and a 672Wh battery, allowing to post the same 20 mph top speed and 45 miles of range on pedal assist as the previous iteration. In this instance, though, the motor has been reworked to put out more power during uphill climbs, allowing the ebike to summit those sloped roads at a 10 percent faster pace than before. The battery housing has also been improved, making for a sleeker-looking package in the new model. More importantly, the new ebike supports dual battery modules, allowing you to double the range to 90 miles on pedal assist and 50 miles on pure throttle.
It’s equipped with a redesigned aluminum frame that’s supposed to offer a sturdier, more stable ride, all while beefing up the cargo capacity to 350 pounds (50 pound more than previous models). The bike also gets a longer rear rack, so there’s more room to load your cargo, along with a pannier mounting frame (yep, you can pannier bags on it) and various mounting points for adding more storage, such as a basket out front, a storage case right on the frame, and even a cargo trailer you can tow in the back.
The Rad Power Bikes RadRunner 3 Plus comes with five levels of pedal assist, including a pure throttle mode for those who don’t want to put any strain on their legs. It has a seven-speed drivetrain for better control of the ebike when riding through hills, as well as Tekto hydraulic brakes to ensure you’ve got plenty of stopping power. A display on the handlebar keeps you informed about the ride’s status at all times, giving you information about battery level, pedal assist level, headlight status, speedometer, odometer, and even a clock, in case you enjoy riding so much, you forget about the time. The bike weighs 75.5 pounds, so this is not the kind of bike you’ll enjoy taking up the stairs or mounting on a high rack.
According to the outfit, the bike can support riders from 4’11” to 6’2”, so it should be compatible with majority of riders. Other details include LED headlight, integrated taillight, a half-twist throttle control, adjustable seatpost, cushioned saddle with adjustable backrest, a 12-spoke wheel, and Kenda K905 tires.
