The Ember Tumbler 2 is a 16-ounce tumbler with a slimmer and taller profile than its predecessor. That makes it easier to grip in hand, while fitting comfortably in most cup holders, so you can set it down conveniently whether you’re in the car, a movie theater, or on a folding chair at the beach enjoying the summer morning sun. The 16-ounce capacity should be generous enough to tide you over for a bit, allowing you to enjoy your hot tea or coffee without having to go out and get refills for a couple of hours (probably more).
The integrated temperature control mechanism can keep drinks within your desired temperature level at all times, automatically engaging when it detects the drink cooling to heat it back up. Even better, you don’t need to use the app to set the temperature, since you can adjust it using the button at the bottom of the tumbler. The button lets you cycle between five temperature settings, from 125 degrees to 145 degrees Fahrenheit, with five degree increments. Indicator lights at the lower section, on the other hand, show the current battery level remaining.
The Ember Tumbler 2 comes with two swappable lids: a handle lid and a sliding lid. The handle lid comes with a handle on top, making it easier to carry the tumbler by hand. You can also use the handle to hang it on a bag strap or a carabiner, which is very convenient for portability. Catch is, you can unscrew the whole lid to take a sip, which isn’t the most convenient. The sliding lid, on the other hand, makes sipping much faster by having an opening with a sliding cover, allowing you to flick it open, take a sip, and close it back up using just one hand.
The onboard battery, by the way, is only rated for two hours and 45 minutes of heating time at the lowest setting, so you might want to make sure to charge it any time you have a chance. That goes down significantly when you leave the lid unsecured, by the way, so make sure to put the lid back on at all times once you’ve had a sip. Oh yeah, the whole thing is top-rack dishwasher safe, so you can simply throw it in with the dirty dishes once you’re back home.
