There’s no shortage of options when it comes to water bottles. From stainless steel and filtered bottles to shakers and collapsible water bottles, you can get all sorts of sizes in all sorts of designs in all sorts of colors. The Bottle Bottle Active-Pump Sports Bottle looks to set itself apart by integrating an entirely new way to take a sip on the go.
Most bottles are easy enough to drink out of. You pop the cap, put the opening in your mouth, and tilt it back to get the water pouring. Simple. But what if you don’t want to have to tilt your head to take a sip, such as when you’re trying to keep eyes on the road during cycling or when you have a stiff neck? Well, this bottle offers a solution.
The Bottle Bottle Active-Pump Sports Bottle is an insulated water bottle with an integrated water fountain of sorts. That means, you don’t need to put it on your mouth and tilt, since you can simply push a button to get the water spritzing out, allowing you to get a sip faster and easier than ever. This is made possible by the screw-on lid, which incorporates a pair of buttons, a pump, integrated electronics, and a battery module. That’s right, they put a full-featured electronic drinking fountain in the screw-on lid.
How does the lid work? First, you press the front button to open the spring-loaded cap, which reveals a drinking spout beneath it. From there, you press the rear button, which activates the pump, causing a stream of water to shoot out of the spout. Just make sure you catch that water in your mouth and you’re good. Everything is meant to be done one-handed, by the way, making it ideal for those times you’re taking a sip while fully engaged in something else, since you can keep one hand on the wheel while driving, the handlebars while cycling, or even the leash if you’re walking your dog in the park.
The Bottle Bottle Active-Pump Sports Bottle comes with a 20oz water bottle that’s pretty standard for the category, coming in at 11 x 3 inches (length x diameter). It’s made from stainless steel and BPA-free plastic, with a double-walled insulation that’s rated to keep your drinks cool for up to 12 hours. The bottle gets a wide mouth for easy cleaning, as well as an indent around the upper part, which should make it just a little easier to grasp even for those with smaller hands.
According to the outfit, the integrated electronics are waterproofed to IPX6 standards, so you can get the lid soaked without much worries. Do note, the battery needs to be charged for the fountain to work effectively, which, we imagine, people will forget early on, since water bottles aren’t exactly things we’re used to charging. The onboard 1,200 mAh battery is rated for up to seven days of use between charges, by the way, so you don’t have to plug in all that frequently. There’s also an LED indicator that warns you when the power is low.
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Bottle Bottle Active-Pump Sports Bottle. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $59.99.
