There’s no shortage of ways to make your own coffee, from automatic espresso machines and iced coffee makers to versatile countertop machines and portable coffee contraptions. Yeah, they come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and functions. The Brevvo looks to set itself apart by combining the push-button convenience of automated brewers with on-the-go portability.
That’s right, this compact espresso machine offers push-button convenience, allowing you to do a pressurized brew without any work on your part. Even better, it does that without plugging into a power source, instead using its built-in battery, allowing you to enjoy delicious espresso shots anywhere you are at any time of day.
The Brevvo doesn’t look like an espresso maker. In fact, most people would probably think it was either a lunch box, a large power bank, or a digital binocular of some sort. Either way, that styling makes it very portable, as the whole thing packs into a tight housing that you should be able to slip inside most backpacks, tote bags, and gear boxes. To brew coffee in it, you start by twisting the top section outwards, which reveals a covered section that actually contains a capsule chamber, a ground basket, and an extraction head. Once those components are removed, you can use that area as the water tank, which has enough room in it to accommodate up to 110ml of water.
From there, you either put a coffee pod on the capsule chamber or put ground coffee on the basket, then place either one into the extraction head, which you place on the underside of the lid section of the coffee maker. From there, you just set the desired temperature (86 to 95 degrees Celsius) from the capacitive controls on top and commence the brewing. After that, you just wait a few minutes until the water is heated and the coffee is extracted, which will automatically drop down from the head as soon as it’s ready.
The Brevvo is designed for single-serve espresso, by the way, so you only want to put as much water in the tank as you want to go in your coffee, since it will use up all the water in one go. It uses a 20 bars of controlled pressure for extracting coffee flavors, with pre-programmed extraction times, so you don’t have to think about anything other than how piping hot you want your coffee to be. The device, by the way, can also be used as a power bank, in case you need emergency power in a jiffy.
It comes in two variants, standard and Max, with the integrated battery being the only real difference between the two. The standard one houses a 13,500 mAh battery that’s rated for up to eight cups of coffee, while the Max houses a bigger 27,000 mAh for 16 cups of coffee. While those numbers sound fine for one person on a camping trip, we imagine you’ll want to have a power bank around if you’re with people who also enjoy their caffeinated beverages.
