Einsen Automated Iron Makes Pressing Your Clothes Easier Than Ever

Ironing is hell. It’s uncomfortable, takes too much time, and requires a little too much work. That’s why many people have switched to handheld garment steamers, despite being unable to achieve the same crisp and sharp results as traditional ironing. Surely, if someone can make something even more convenient, we’ll all switch to that right? We’re guessing that’s the idea behind the Einsen.

Billed as “the future of ironing,” it’s a tabletop device that takes a wrinkly garment on one end and spits it out on the other end wrinkle-free, making for easily the most convenient way to iron. It does everything automatically, too, requiring you to simply line up the garment properly on one end while putting it in the device, with the machine handling the rest.

The Einsen Automated Iron looks more like an extra-wide commercial printer than an ironing machine. Seriously, anyone who sees it for the first time will think that, especially with what looks like a paper tray on one end. Except, of course, it doesn’t have a lid that will flip open like a printer. The tray also isn’t meant to take paper. Instead, that’s where you align the garment when you’re putting it into the machine.

To use, simply place the garment on the included hanger and align it on the tray, then insert the hanger into the opening. After that, you select the type of fabric and the ironing mode you want to perform to ensure it irons the garment correctly. From there, the machine takes over, pulling it slowly and removing the wrinkles before extruding it on the other side. How does it straighten the fabrics? According the outfit, it simultaneously steams and presses the fabric as it passes inside the machine. Unlike traditional steamers, it doesn’t leave the garment damp, either, so everything is dry and ready to wear as soon as it comes out.

The Einsen Automated Iron comes with three operating modes. Hygiene is the standard high-temperature steaming option that you probably want it to perform, while Refresh is a lighter mode for those times you just want to straighten up a lightly wrinkled garment. There’s also an Eco mode that uses less energy and water for those who want more sustainable operation. According to the outfit, the machine can handle shirts, pants, polos, and dresses, while being wide enough to accommodate up to XXL sizes. As for fabrics, you can use it with cotton, linen, polyester, wool, denim, and rayon.

According to the outfit, the device uses a 3D ironing system that’s able to prevent bunching when pressing the garments, allowing shirts and sleeves to be pressed separately for best results, while a spring-mounted pressing system adapts the amount of pressure it applies to avoid damaging buttons and rivets. The dry steam it produces, by the way, reaches up to 200 degrees Celsius, so you’ll have to wait a couple of minutes to preheat before it actually commences the operation. It also has a companion app where you can adjust operation on the fly.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Einsen Automated Iron. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $1,259. Do note, they don’t actually ship until late next year, so keep that in mind if you’re interested.
