Shark ChillPill Gives You Three Ways to Cool Down During Hot Days

Contrary to what the name might suggest, the Shark ChillPill is not a medicine or supplement to calm you down on those days you’re particularly high strung. Instead, it’s a personal cooling device that you can use to beat the heat during the warmer days of the year.

You know those tiny fans people to carry in hand to blow air their way in hot weather? It’s one of those. Except, it incorporates a few other features that make it just a tad more useful than your standard handheld cooling fan.

The Shark ChillPill doesn’t look a lot like your typical handheld fan. Instead, the darn thing looks more like a pair of binoculars with two cylinder-shaped housings attached together. Unlike a binocular, though, the dual cylinders can be twisted at their attachment points, allowing you to face one of them at a different angle. The cylinder that’s able to move houses the high-speed fan, which can push air at speeds of up to 25 feet per second for fast cooling relief. Since you’re able to adjust the angle, you can face it anywhere you want, while the other cylindrical housing can serve as a secure grip for convenient handling. You can also set it down on a flat surface using the other housing, allowing you to use it as a mini-desk fan on your folding work desk, the coffee shop table, or the park bench.

More than a fan, the device comes with two swappable attachments, namely a cooling plate and a dry-touch mist. Billed as “cryo-inspired cooling,” the plate is, basically, a cold metal surface that you’re supposed to put in contact directly with any part of your skin that needs cooling. Supposedly, it can drop skin temperature by up to 16 degrees Fahrenheit in just a few seconds, immediately cooling you down in a jiffy. We’re guessing you can stick it to one spot or move it around to spread the cooling effect.

The Shark ChillPill also gets a dry-touch evaporative mist, so it can spray a cooling mist to go along with the air pushing out of the fan. Do note, the water tank seems to be really small, so you can only get about 10 minutes of misting if you set it in interval mode (much shorter if you choose continuous) before requiring you to pour in a fresh tank of water. According to the outfit, the mist is designed to quickly evaporate, so it can refresh your skin without leaving all the surfaces around you soaking wet.

The device comes with a clip that lets you attach it to your bag strap or your jacket, so you can get cooling without having to carry it in hand the entire time. A clamp is also included, so you can mount it in front of the treadmill or elliptical at the gym. The integrated battery is rated to last for up to 11 hours between charges at the lowest fan setting, 4.5 hours at the mid-point, and 1.5 hours when you turn it way up.

The Shark ChillPill is available in seven different colors.
