Yeti has been steadily expanding their lineup for a few years now, releasing all sorts of products beyond their original indestructible coolers. This time around, the outfit is giving you a way to heat up during cold nights outdoors in the form of the Yeti Fire Pit.
That’s right, Yeti just made their own fire pit and it’s not one of those fancy smokeless fire pits, either. Instead, it’s a little more old school, simply offering you an elevated bowl to burn logs on, allowing you to safely enjoy a toasty fire, whether in the beach, the campsite, or the backyard.
The Yeti Fire Pit consists of a fire bowl measuring 27 inches in diameter, a matching lid for covering it up when not in use, and a 33.75-inch steel rod with a safety grip to let you easily stoke the flame. Both components are cut in corten steel, which is designed to develop a protective bronze patina that serves as a natural barrier to extend the life of the material. Yes, the thin coat of rust that develops outside actually serves as a protective layer, ensuring the fire pit will hold up for many, many years. It comes with three legs, which elevates the bottom of the bowl around half a foot off the ground, ensuring you can keep the fire safely contained at all times.
From the sound of it, Yeti seems to be marketing it as a portable fire pit. You know… the kind you can bring along when camping in the woods or partying in the beach. While it can definitely fit in the boot of most cars, it is quite big and bulky, so there are definitely better options as far as packable fire pits go. Yeah, it won’t be convenient dragging this thing around the trail, especially since the whole thing weighs a whopping 70 pounds.
The Yeti Fire Pit is designed to work with the outfit’s Grill Kit, which turns the humble fire pit into a proper grill. It consists of a pair of grates, one large and one small. The large grate comes with a rectangular shape that should allow easier fire management, while the smaller one comes with a pole that lets you mount the smaller round grate at different heights. It’s not the sleekest set-up, but it will definitely do the trick. All components of the kit are cut in case-hardened carbon steel, ensuring excellent heat retention and long-term durability. As you can imagine, the kit should add a fair amount of weight to the already hefty fire pit, so taking this thing to your outdoor adventures can get really heavy.
Yeti recommends using any kind of wood for fire pit use, then switching to charcoal when cooking using the grill kit. Why didn’t they opt for a smokeless fire pit instead? According to Yeti, they wanted to prioritize visibility and access to the fire, both of which become trickier with smokeless designs.
The Yeti Fire Pit is available now, priced at $1,000, while the Grill Kit retails for $500.
