It looks like any normal home-grade power drill that you can use to bore holes and drive screws for all your DIY repair projects. And you can use it for exactly that purpose. However, the Dremel Blueprint Multi-Drill is meant to be a more versatile handyman tool that incorporates a couple more useful functions to its arsenal.
Specifically, this cordless drill also comes with a built-in stud finder and detachable laser level. That means, you can use it to find exactly where to drill and ensure everything you’re installing is properly leveled, eliminating the need to carry extra tools when performing various household tasks.
The Dremel Blueprint Multi-Drill is a compact cordless drill that’s just the right size for carrying out various home decor and repair tasks at home. From refreshing cabinets and assembling furniture to installing TV mounts and more, it hits that sweet spot of portability and function that makes it ideal for DIY. It’s equipped with a 12V brushless motor, which delivers a maximum speed of 800 RPM and 175 inch-pounds of torque. While that’s probably not enough power for commercial jobs where 18V motors are standard, it’s definitely enough muscle to get you through most common household drilling and driving tasks.
It comes with a knuckle guard for extra protection from various surfaces around the house, as well as an integrated LED spot light, so you can illuminate what you’re working on when using the drill in poorly-lit areas. That light should come in handy when doing work like reattaching cabinets, securing fixtures under the sink, or driving screws underneath furniture. It also has a quick-change chuck that, the outfit claims, ensures effortless swapping of drill attachments, as well as a precision clutch for working on flush and sunken screws. The tool even has integrated bit storage, so you can stash a couple bits you need right on the body.
The Dremel Blueprint Multi-Drill also has a built in stud finder right on the knuckle, making it easy to find which parts of the wall are safe to drill into. Sure, the stud finder function is barebones compared to dedicated stud finders (it can’t find the center of a beam or detect electrical wires, for instance), but it can locate safe spots to drill your holes and, for most DIY users, that’s all they really need. Underneath the stud finder is a removable laser level, which comes with a horizontal and vertical bubble levels, so you can ensure perfect alignment for all the shelves, TV mounts, and everything else you plan to install. There’s also a LED indicator showing the current battery level, so you’ll know exactly when it needs a fresh cell.
It uses the same 12V battery that powers other devices in Dremel’s Blueprint line of cordless tools, although the laser level has its own battery that should be charged via USB-C. The new multi-drill releases alongside a number of other new additions to the Blueprint line, including a portable miter saw station and a compact cordless saw.
The Dremel Blueprint Multi-Drill is available now.
