Beach wagons are great for moving heavy loads of gear across the sand. Problem is, it still requires a lot of pulling, which is why some folks opt for motorized variants. The BougeRV DuneRover takes the motorized beach wagon to the next level by adding remote control capabilities.
That’s right, this beach wagon isn’t just motorized, it can even be operated by a remote. No need to drag the wagon the whole time you’re at the beach, since you can just use the remote to propel and maneuver the whole thing while you walk comfortably behind it.

The BougeRV DuneRover looks like any conventional beach wagon, with a spacious cargo bed sized to fit all the beach chairs and gear you can throw its way, off-road wheels, and a towing handle out front. When powered off, you can use it like any traditional beach wagon that you can tow manually, pushing on the ground with your lower extremities to get the whole thing moving. Of course, what sets it apart from traditional wagons is the motorized drivetrain, courtesy of an 800W brushless motor on each of the rear wheels. That’s right, it doubles up on the motor, ensuring both rear wheels propel with equal force at all times. According to the outfit, the dual motors allow it to produce 66Nm of combined torque, allowing it to conquer even difficult terrain like soft sand, inclines up to 15 degrees, and similar challenges.

You can use like most powered wagons that engage the motors when you pull. It uses force-sensing, measuring your applied pulling force in real time and produces power in proportion to it. Basically, the harder you pull, the more power it puts out, so you get the right amount of power you need, whether you’re hauling 50 pounds or 150 pounds. There are numerous controls on the handle, by the way, including power and mode. The mode button can activate a feature called DuneGrip TCS, which actively monitors wheel slip, dynamically modulating the torque output to keep the wheel from spinning out. Basically, this ensures the wheels won’t dig into soft sand or mud, making it a useful mode to activate when you recognize potentially challenging surfaces. It also automatically puts on the brakes when you let go of the handle, so even if you leave it in the middle of a slope, the wagon won’t suddenly slide down.

The BougeRV DuneRover doesn’t have a separate remote for untethered control. Instead, you can pull out the same handle you grip when towing it behind you. The handle comes with the aforementioned buttons, along a directional pad for steering it remotely, with a wireless connection that, the outfit claims, lets you control it from 328 feet away. In case the wireless connection is lost, by the way, it automatically puts on the brakes, so your beach wagon won’t keep going away from you on its own. They also offer a third way to operate it via the app, in case you want one more thing you can do on your smartphone. Other features include airless PU wheels, a maximum capacity of 162-quarts, maximum payload of 330 pounds, a collapsible design for easy transport, built-in LED bars (if you want colorful lighting), a 240,000 mAh battery rated at five miles on a single charge, power bank functionality, and solar charging support (it has its own MPPT regulator).
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the BougeRV DuneRover. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $154.
