Trying to clean a spot stain on your shirt is no fun. Sometimes, you get lucky and remove most of it, leaving just feint traces intact. Other times, you make it worse, spreading the stain across an even larger area. Most of the time, you get some of the stain off, but spend the rest of the day with some of it still in tow. The FireArt InstaSpot offers a quick, chemical-free way to remove it entirely.
Billed as a pocket-sized “ultrasonic spot remover,” the device uses a series of rapid but gentle vibrations (similar to other ultrasonic tools) to pry and lift stains off the fabric, allowing you to get the stain off without any blotting, sponging, or scrubbing necessary. There’s no need to use any chemicals, either, as it requires just a little water to help loosen the stain before activating the ultrasonic cleaning function.

The FireArt InstaSpot is a handheld tool about the size of a whiteboard marker. Instead of having a marker tip, though, it has a stainless steel head with a rounded tip that’s shaped to help pry stains off clothes and other fabrics. It’s able to do that, of course, because of the ultrasonic vibrations it produces via the built-in transducer, which produces a whopping 52,000 vibrations per second. That means, it lets you nudge the stains that many times every second, which prompts it to loosen up and, eventually, get cleaned off.
To use, you first need to spray a small amount of water onto the stain. We’re guessing you can drop a small amount on it however you want, although the device does come with a small atomizer (0.5 fl. oz.) that sprays a gentle mist onto the surface, since no one wants to get any shirt they’re wearing all that wet. Once misted, you then turn on the device and put it to work, going over the stained area until it’s gone.

The FireArt InstaSpot claims to be able to clean most types of stains, from make up and blood to food and drinks to grease and ink to a whole lot more. They even claim it can remove permanent marker stains, which should be impressive if it really does that. According to the outfit, the water combined with the ultrasonic vibrations create a cavitation effect that forcefully separates dirt from the threads of the fabric, allowing it to completely remove stains after a few asses. No word on how long each stain will take, but given that it produces over 50,000 vibrations per second, we’re guessing this will save you a lot of time spot cleaning any stain.

The device runs on a 1200 mAh battery that, the outfit claims, is rated to last for multiple spot cleanings. No word on how long exactly that is, but they claim a single charge should be enough to last most people for a whole weekend trip. Oh yeah, it’s TSA-approved, by the way, so you can take it with you during vacation. And yes, it’s waterproof, so you can use it by the sink without any worries.
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the FireArt InstaSpot. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $159.
