Pellytech Rangemate Signature Lets You Grill Steaks, Burgers, and More in the Microwave

With the right accessories, you can use the humble microwave to do some real cooking, turning it into a truly versatile kitchen appliance. However, grilling and searing food isn’t exactly something we’ve ever thought we can do in a microwave. Turns out we were wrong because that’s exactly what you can achieve with the Pellytech Rangemate Signature.

A unique microwave food container, the accessory contains a heating plate that converts electromagnetic waves into far-infrared rays, allowing it to produce temperatures of up to 750 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s enough heat to do some proper grilling and searing, allowing you to cook all sorts of stuff you wouldn’t otherwise do on a microwave oven.

The Pellytech Rangemate Signature is a microwaveable container with a lid to keep grease from splattering, side handles for easily moving it around, and a heating plate at the bottom. That heating plate is the heart and soul of the accessory, as it absorbs the microwave’s electromagnetic waves and transforms them into far-infrared rays that, the outfit claims, can heat food from the inside out. This results in evenly-cooked food that’s able to preserve the natural juices, flavors, and textures of whatever food item you put in the container.

The heating plate is only at the bottom, by the way, so you’ll need to turn the food over at some point to ensure it sears on both sides. That means, it cooks the food similar to a stovetop griddle, which is a pretty cool thing to be able to do on a microwave. And yes, the hot plate stays hot even after removing the whole thing from the microwave, so much so that they even show it cooking an egg after being taken out. According to the outfit, the cookware’s lid is designed to block out electromagnetic waves, ensuring a controlled high-heat environment using far-infrared rays.

The Pellytech Rangemate Signature can supposedly reach temperatures of up to 750 degrees Fahrenheit inside the cooking chamber, allowing it to perform proper grilling and searing. The hot plate comes with sear marks, too, so grilled food looks like it came straight out of an indoor grill at worst. Aside from grilling, the cookware can be used to roast, bake, steam, boil, and reheat food items, making it quite the versatile microwave accessory. The bottom, by the way, uses legs and a rubber valve that ensures it maintains stability during cooking.

It has a sealed lid that allows it to minimize smoke, odor, and splatter, while cool-touch handles allow you to take the cookware out of the microwave safely with bare hands after cooking. Other features include ceramic fiber insulation to maximize heat retention, a dishwasher-safe build so you can just throw it in with the rest of the dirty dishes, and a non-stick ceramic-coated cooking surface. As you can probably imagine, it will require a lot of trial and error to figure out how to cook different food items on this thing. Fortunately, the outfit is including a recipe booklet for different dishes, allowing you to get a clear guide to get you started on the right path.

A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Pellytech Rangemate Signature. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $99.
